BIG. BLUE. BEAUTIFUL.

That's our planet.

When viewed from outer space Earth resembles a blue marble and that is why it's often called the Blue Planet. The vast oceans that cover 70% of Earth's surface give it its blue appearance. It is the presence of these oceans that make our planet habitable. Ocean water is a necessity for life. In fact, ocean is the birthplace of life because it is there that the planet's first living thing was born. Life began in the ocean millions of years ago and even today the ocean remains home to a majority of plants and animals from the smallest organism to the blue whale, the largest animal on Earth.
